Market engagement event for a 24/7 support service in Suffolk.
Suffolk County Council's vision is to provide a range of services to
vulnerable adults, particularly older people, to enable people to remain
living in their own home for longer. In the first instance we are looking
to develop 2 new services; a 24/7 support service and a family carers
support service.
The aim of the 24/7 support service is to give people the security and
confidence to enable them to remain living independently and will be
linked to community alarms.
We envisage a service whereby a trained support worker will go into the
home to provide time limited help and reassurance at times of crisis or
distress day or night, 7 days a week, hence 24/7. We also wish to explore
a more innovative business model that is able to respond to market demand,
is competitively priced for the customer and results in a service that is
ultimately self-financing.
The family carers support service is needed to replace the care that would
normally be provided but due to a crisis situation the carer is
temporarily unavailable. This service also needs to operate throughout the
day and night and there may be economic advantages to providing the 2
services together. This is something that we wish to explore further.
If you have experience in providing community alarm services, a housing
support service, or a domiciliary care service and are prepared to be
innovative then we would welcome the opportunity to explain our ideas and
to obtain your views by joining us at a market engagement event.
Time and date: 2:00pm on Monday 24.5.2010.
Venue: Kerrison Conference Centre, Kerrison, Thorndon, Eye, IP23 7JG,
UNITED KINGDOM.
RSVP: To Kevin.Wegg@suffolk.gov.uk.
