Some popular examples include facebook.com, linkedin.com. Some lesspopular (worldwide) examples but relevant within Europe are Deutsche Bahn’s website, or usage within code of Italy’s government projects hosted on GitHub. It used by companies of all sizes and locations. Because Babel is so widely adopted, it has become a central part of the modern JavaScript toolchain, with 43k stars on GitHub and 58M downloads/week on npm. Many other popular libraries and frameworks (React, Vue, Next.js, etc.) rely on Babel for their own transpilation needs. Babel promotes accessibility and inclusivity because on one hand, websites built with Babel are accessible to a wider range of users, regardless of the device and browser they are using. On the other hand, Babel lowers the entry barrier for web development by allowing developers to just think about “what features does JavaScript support?”, rather than having to figure out what features are supported in which browsers as you learn how to write your JavaScript code. Babel promotes innovation and participation of JavaScript standard as it allows developers to experiment with cutting-edge JavaScript features and syntax, offering early feedback to standard proposals. Over the years, we have seen JavaScript developers providing feedback to TC39 proposal champions many times thanks to being able to play around with the proposal, and even implement their own variation of the proposal to show alternatives.
