Informations complémentaires: Freedom of movement of workers is a fundamental right granted to the citizens of the Union by Article 45 of the Treaty on the functioning of the European Union (TFEU). Also, in the interest of free movement of workers, national social security systems, pursuant to Article 48 TFEU, are coordinated by EU legal instruments. The objective that persons moving within the European Union do not suffer any loss of social security rights can only be achieved if the implementation of EU coordination provisions is appropriately monitored and in line with the economic and social developments in the national social security legislations they coordinate. The Commission is seeking independent expertise in order to have support in these functions with solid research and analysis, as well as to widely disseminate this specific expertise to experts, practitioners and general public.
